Become That Change...

"Be the change that you wish to see in the world."

This is a famous quote by the late Mahatma Gandhi, which I am sure we have all heard of. It is simple, but deep at the same time.
But the question is what change? How do I become that change? How do I start?
In this final article under the #SHIFTFOCUS series, I will look in depth on what it means to "make a change" and how can you, yes you, the one who thinks they are just ordinary, can make a ground breaking difference to the world. Through my "Top Five Steps", I will break this down for you, reader.

The definition of change is "the act or instance of making or becoming different" (Trust me, I "googled it"). Change is an act, not just a thought. I believe that each and everyone of us has a dream hidden within us but we are very much content with keeping it within our minds, and entertaining the fact that it exists. Most times, it is due to fear of stepping out of the box that makes us keep it there. But you must be that change and change is an ..action. As discussed in my previous article, if you can see the problem and have a desire and dream to solve it, aren't you are the solution awaiting it's manifestation?

So, Katai, you may ask, you have brought that across already, I get it. Isn't this article is supposed to be what about steps on what I am supposed to do?

Correct.
I just achieved the first step.

1) RECOGNISE THAT YOU CAN MAKE A CHANGE. Once your mind is set to knowing that you can see something you can change, your "mindset" begins to change. Everything begins in your mind and once you believe and know that you are capable to make the change, it becomes your "jump-start" fuel for your journey.

2)  WRITE DOWN THE VISION YOU SEE. A vision is a mental picture of what you want to see. Now it is not enough to just have it float in your head. Write it down. Habakkuk 2:2 is the famous Scripture on vision casting. God encouraged Habakkuk to write down what he saw so that "he who sees it may run with it". You are writing the vision so that when someone sees it, they have enough understanding to make it become a reality. This could be you, it could be your sponsor, it could be a helper.  The point is: make it clear so that someone can run with it.
Another method is to have a vision board. This is a display of pictures or quotes that you want to see manifest. I make one annually, clearly setting down what I want to achieve in the year. It keeps you running, even in the toughest of times.

3) HAVE A MISSION AND SET GOALS TO ATTAIN IT. You know what you want to see. Your vision is like a picture to the Bahamas hanging on your bedroom window, for example. You can look at it all day long, but if you do not plan on how to get there, it will remain a picture and a fantasy.
A mission is a statement of how you want to make your vision a reality. The steps that should be taken to achieve it. From it, your "goals" spring from there.

If you see yourself having a mansion, that is the vision. But how are you going to make it a reality? eg. " By saving from my job, and the profit from the business, I will save and invest to finance my project." ( This is a mission. Just a simple example). From that, you have a goal that can branch out i.e " I will save $1000 every 3 months until I meet my target"

4) SEEK ADVICE: You have your vision, mission, plan down. Now before you execute it, it is advisable to research and seek advice before you act.
The primary source of advice is God Himself. Proverbs 16:3 says "Commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed." He is the one who gave you your purpose and vision and following His guidance helps you keep in track of what He would like you to achieve.

The secondary source is people who are above you eg. parents, guardians, spiritual mentors and people who are in the same field of what you are doing.
Proverbs 15:22 says " Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisors bring success."
They will guide, advise and help you from falling into hurdles they fell in when they started.

5) ACT.
This  is the most important part. You can make so many plans, but if you do not act, there will be no change. Remember, change is an action, meaning in order for it to occur, you must do what your plan said you would do.

Do not worry about whether you will fail, or the challenges you may face or are facing or if you seem so small when you start. It is the daily efforts that make the greatest progress. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. And also if you can handle the small responsibilities with excellence, with time, the larger responsibilities will be handled with just as much excellence.

To close off this series, I would like you to not just read, smile and share  (not saying that you should not; it is necessary) my posts. I want you to ACT on the revelation you have received.

I believe that I am writing to great leaders in their own specific fields that will take this whole world to a new level

All you have to do is #SHIFTFOCUS from waiting for change. Because change is waiting in you.
