What Do You See?

It is that time of the year again.

Christmas carols, bells and decorations are the order of the season, everywhere. Fast forward 17 days from now, you are eagerly watching the clock until it chimes at 12 am and you scream, "Happy New Year!"

Isn't it amazing how fast this year went? It seems like yesterday we were ringing in 2016 and now we are toasting off the year. In season and in time,I would like to present this article to you. Even as we let go of 2016 and look forward to 2017, there are somethings you must consider as you start afresh. A shift in perspective and a shift in focus. From focussing on your plans to a new gaze on God's vision.

Welcome to What do you see? Under a series called "Shifting Focus"

A new year is an opportunity to begin again and afresh and as per tradition, we write down resolutions, which are goals on what we want to achieve in the year. Many are the instances we start well, but we lose heart along the year and look forward for the next year to 'begin again'
This article challenges that thinking. What if you attached your resolutions to a vision. More importantly God's?

A vision is a mental picture, usually a dream that has not manifested. Resolutions are the pieces that fit into a giant vision called Vision. Would you build a building that you don't know what will look like. How will you know what to buy, how to build it? It is the same with resolutions. You just have a end vision to fulfil in order to strive to achieve your goals.

Vision is important to God.
In Jeremiah 1: 6-12, God asks Jeremiah "What do you see?" And Jeremiah says "A branch of an almond tree"
God then replies with the famous scripture "I am carefully watching over my word to perform it".(verse 12)
In this simple scripture in which we get a profound teaching of what God feels about vision.
As seen in the scripture, God has given us a vision and asks what we see. Notice that only God revealed what He will do once Jeremiah saw what He saw.
Similarly, God will reveal His next step in your life, why He has kept you through for 2017, what He wants you to know for this time and season only if you shift your focus to see what he sees. Only then your resolutions shall be aligned to His and then will succeed.

My encouragement for you is that even as we celebrate, and toast of the year and as the excitement builds up, enjoy the celebration. But even when the music dies and the last confetti is sprayed, what is next? Use your time.wisely now to establish on what you want in the fresh start of next year. This next year is a gift of time that can be used to grow you or deteriorate you. It is all about what you want to see out of it. Three hundred and sixty-five days from now, what where would you like to see yourself?. Do you want to move further forward or move backwards?
All these are determined by what you decide now and where your focus lies.

Even as the new season arrives, shift your focus to His vision, see what He sees, connect to His vision and He will show you where to step.
It is time to #ShiftFocus.
