Learning How to Listen, In 10 Ways

Image
Dear Reader, I want you to imagine a scenario with me. Imagine you met someone you really like (it can be in a romantic or non-romantic way) and you want to build a genuine relationship with them. They seem like the best person who can help you grow and if you built a relationship with them, you would be able to achieve greater things together. You decide to engage in conversation with them. You meet them in person and sit down to chat. They begin with a hello, and you ask how they are and then speak about themselves. Then they turn it over to you and ask: "What about you? What are you interested in?" As you begin to answer, the person gets up and walks away.   How would you feel?  Thinking back on this scenario, I easily related it to prayer. Many times, we come to God with our concerns but we leave without hearing what He has to say about them . God desires to hear from you but He also wants to give His advice and guidance and develop a genuine relatio...

Notes From A Wildflower

Image
How many of us looked at a mirror today? I'm sure most of us did (yes, even the selfie camera counts!) but there is something about reflection that makes it deep. Reflection is a process of looking back at something that shows who you are. When you have come so far from somewhere or are about to close a chapter, you reflect on the lessons you learnt. Having not written for a while, I decided to share my story.  This post is slightly longer than others but fully packed with lessons.  Kindly excuse the "me"'s and "I" s but it is necessary to hint a few of my experiences with these lessons. My hope is that you may gain some depth in the little lessons for the greatest impact. Are you ready? Welcome to Notes From A Wildflower 🌸🌺 Why a Wildflower? At the beginning of this year, my close friend and mentor introduced this brilliant metaphor for how God sees us growing this year. Wildflowers are beautiful flowers that grow naturally and freely. They...

Love Ran Red

It's Easter again. When I was young, Easter was about special lunches, going to church and chocolate eggs (if my brother and I were lucky).  However, this year, that was not the case. I came to a point where I wondered why we celebrate Easter. Sure, Easter is about the death of Christ but these questions came to mind:  Why did Jesus die and what does it mean for us today? The amazing news about this is that in the end, a new revelation dawned.  In this   special   blog post (slightly longer than the rest), we will look into the reason of the season. With a conversational style of writing, I hope to uncover 3 powerful promises  with you that will change the way we look at life with Christ. Are you ready?  Let's dive in. Welcome to Fire of the Lighthouse's Easter Edition post: Love Ran Red Let's take it back to the beginning... In Genesis 1- 2, God created the Earth and added a little something special to His creation: humans. Adam and Ev...

Gemstones: Beautiful, Valuable, Rare

Sometimes, I wonder how she gets everything done. A fashion designer and tailor, mother, investor and recreational foodie, this remarkable woman does more than just inspire: she revolutionises.  Most know her as the Virtuous Woman, the Woman of Noble Character but she's commonly known as the "Proverbs 31 Woman" When looking for inspirational stories on women for this brand new theme, She is: Celebrating Women, her name topped the list. Not because she is often talked about by women of the Christian faith, but because that her story has key principles that shaped my values and understanding of value and worth. What are those principles? Well, in truth, they are too many to list (who knows? Maybe they could form an excellent book) but I will share a few that will hopefully inspire you. But the question is: Are you ready to hear her story? First, some background The Proverbs 31 Woman is a lady of inspiration.  An outstanding fashion designer, tailor and in...
