The Peace Formula

"Peace is a result of retraining your mind to process life as it is rather than as you think it should be."- Wayne W. Dyer As I sat to think about what to write next in this series, I thought of different mindsets that I wanted to adopt, and get rid of. I had a huge list, but I felt moved to write on mindsets that matter, or seem to matter, the most to me at the moment. After some deep thought, I decided to write on peace , the positive mindset I believe we should all have and in this article, I will go further on what it means to have a peaceful mindset. Peace has always been something we desire in our lives and we search for it in the strangest ways. We live in a world where there is constant affliction and peace seems like a treasure one should have because it keeps them from "drowning in life's storms". I had once read a quote that said, "a boat sinks in a storm because the water gets inside. Don't sink in life's storms by letting them ge...

As A Man Thinketh...

" For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he" I remember being about eight years old when I found these words written in my mother's "inspirational" file, in her beautiful cursive writing. I was confused; it was old English (Thinketh? seriously?) , but I  was intrigued and always wondered what the se words meant. Fast forward 9 years later, older and wiser, I understood what it really meant and this is what I want to share with you. Quick ice breake r: these words are from the book of Proverbs in the Bible, verse 23:7, King James version . When King Solomon was wr iting this , he was writ ing a short story of humil ity , using a n e xample of dining , I would say . In this text, he is saying that what a man thinks in his heart, is who is he is. In other words his thoughts on himself bec ame the person he is. Th is short but simple revelation on this verse became the fuel behind my new series called As A Man Think eth # ThinkDif ferent. In this series...

Become That Change...

" Be the change that you wish to see in the world." This is a famous quote by the late Mahatma Gandhi, which I am sure we have all heard of. It is simple, but deep at the same time. But the question is what change? How do I become that change? How do I start? In this final article under the #SHIFTFOCUS series, I will look in depth on what it means to "make a change" and how can you, yes you, the one who thinks they are just ordinary, can make a ground breaking difference to the world. Through my "T op Five Steps", I will break this down f or you, reader. The definition of change is "the act or instance of making or becoming different" (Trust me, I "googled it"). Change is an act, not just a thought. I believe that each and everyone of us has a dream hidden within us but we are very much content with keeping it within our minds, and entertaining the fact that it exists. Most times, it is due to fear of stepping out of the box that...

Can You See the Problem?

Have you ever looked around recently and seen a problem around you? It could be at home, in your neighbourhood, your country. Have you ever seen the potential the area you live in and just wish  someone could change the area or scene? Day in, day out, you complain on how people could change the landscape of things. How if "so and so" did what you are offering, then maybe, just maybe, this problem would be solved. These are the thoughts that rock my mind day in and day out. I am a silent observer and I like to observe what is going around me. The funny thing is that in the closet of my mind, I flow with solutions and ideas on how it could be changed. When I share my views with a person I like to engage with in conversation and they ask, "Well, why don't you be that change?" I usually shy away and use the usual excuses: my age, my gender, my influence, the list goes on. Sadly, I am not the only one who thinks like this.  I have come across all s...

B efore you indulge in my next post, I would like to congratulate you. Yes, you. The brave soldier. You are alive and kicking and you have entered a new year. Some did not make this far but but you did.  The previous year may not have caused things to happen your way, but guess what? That year has gone and this new year has come . A new season has appeared and new opportunities have broken out, ready for you. The only question I have for you now is w here is your focus? Why is what you focus on important for a new season?  Most importantly, who should you focus on at such a time as this?  In this new article, I will try to answer those questions and explore why focus is important in a new season. As noted in the previous article, a new year is an opportunity to restart.  We create new resolutions and enter in with such fiery passion and hope that this year, we will change.  The seasonal mantra " New Year, New Me " becomes our own personal confessi...

What Do You See?

It is that time of the year again. Christmas carols, bells and decorations are the order of the season, everywhere. Fast forward 17 days from now, you are eagerly watching the clock until it chimes at 12 am and you scream, "Happy New Year!" Isn't it amazing how fast this year went? It seems like yesterday we were ringing in 2016 and now we are toasting off the year. In season and in time,I would like to present this article to you. Even as we let go of 2016 and look forward to 2017, there are somethings you must consider as you start afresh. A shift in perspective and a shift in focus. From focussing on your plans to a new gaze on God's vision. Welcome to What do you see? Under a series called "Shifting Focus" A new year is an opportunity to begin again and afresh and as per tradition, we write down resolutions, which are goals on what we want to achieve in the year. Many are the instances we start well, but we lose heart along the year and l...

Planted for a reason, to Blossom in Season- Part 2

3) BREAK OUT! Once a seed has broken its outer structure, new organs grow out. As it begins to grow leaves, it needs need sunlight but the ground is not an essential environment for this. The conditions are not right. When it reaches this stage, it means that it is time to break out. Break out means that there is a sign of transition . What you have been subjected to for training has brought new things that need to be shown . You cannot stay underground forever: it is a stage , not a destination . It is mandatory to come out because the ground is not your destiny: the sky is. Joseph, when put in the prison for wrong means in Genesis 40:14, that his time in the prison had expired. He knew that was not his destiny. He was not comfortable with comfortable, meaning that even though he was on top of his game, he did not belong there. Break out is an unavoidable part of the process and it is coming! 4) BLOOM Now that the former seed is extending outwards, getting tall...
